Hyatt International deploys a pilot installation of Fexcel for Scala purposed for daily reporting.

The aim of this cooperative pilot project is a reporting tool which from one side: gives a freedom to users, by using SQL, to access arbitrary fields in Scala database, and from the other side: be able to use retrieved data in user defined reports.

The projects outcome, so far, is a report generation tool which creates and distributes PDF reports for each of the participants on the same server.

The installation contains few modules: one purposed for ETL, extracting data from Scala: like chart of accounts, department codes and also daily balances, monthly balances budget amounts etc.

The second module allows creation of report definitions simply using MS Excel.

And the batch reporter, which automatically collects data from for each of the companies sharing the same server, refreshes the values of the reports calling Excel in the background and creates the PDF reports. The reports are distributed for viewing with a Lotus Notes application.
